Everybody has someone who motivates, inspires or drives them to do the things exactly the way they do it. As this week is coming to an end, we would like to cherish four famous individuals that are special to us in some way or another and helps us staying focussed in university and #dsmmcm1819.
Rachel: Ashton Kutcher
“I’m like ketchup, I go good on everything” (IFC, 2018)
Whilst not being an ‘influencer’ in the typical sense, Ashton Kutcher is my choice. Some of you may be wondering, “why, he’s just an actor?” Well, that is true but he does so much more.
He has invested in all kinds of business, from small start ups to more popular companies like Uber, Pinterest, Skype.. the list goes on and on. He also co-founded Thorn, an NGO that develop software to help find missing and exploited children and young people. He has brought this to an international stage, presenting in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in February of 2017 to tackle child abuse, slavery and kidnapping.
He’s great at what he does, his Instagram stories with his wife give me a good laugh and he’s passionate about various causes. I strive to be more like this every day!
Eva: Joanne K. Rowling
We all know the story how J.K. Rowling first had the idea for Harry Potter while traveling on a train and that 12 publishers refused to publish her book.
But what we shouldn’t forget is that against all odds, this ordinary woman, who was labelled a ‘’single mum’’ and struggled with financial problems for years never quit. She never stopped believing that her book will finally be recognised, and people will appreciate it.
”And the idea of just wandering off to a cafe with a notebook and writing and seeing where that takes me for awhile is just bliss” (Brainy Quote)
Now J.K. Rowling has an estimated worth of one billion pounds. But her huge amount of money isn’t what inspires me. What inspires me is this woman’s hard work, courage, believe and hope. And that after all those years of success she is still the same kind and warm person she was back in 1997.
Marie: Elon Musk
There is probably a lot one could write about Elon Musk. Everyone knows of him being the face of Tesla or because his controversial Tweets. However, he is also among others the founder and CEO of SpaceX and the co-founder of PayPal.
Interviewer: When you had that 3rd failure in a row, did you think I need to pack this in?
Interviewer: Why not?
Elon: I don’t ever give up. I mean, I’d have to be dead or completely incapacitated (Fearless Motivation, 2017)
Elon Musk always aims high; his visions are unconventional but he does it anyways. It seems like that nothing can stop him. I mean, he sent a Tesla Roadster into space earlier this year. This is honestly the best PR for Tesla, SpaceX and Mr. Musk himself and such a clever idea at the same time. And did I mention that he wants to colonise Mars? You can think of him what you want but you cannot deny that Elon Musk knows how to be talked of.
Elon Musk is my personal inspiration because we share the fact that giving up is never an option. And we both do not conform to the norm. And you know what? We do not care and that is what makes us the best version of ourselves.
Maria: Sophia Amoruso
Sophia Amoruso influenced my life by showing me that everything is possible with dedication, resilience and motivation.
“No matter where you are in life, you’ll save a lot of time by not worrying too much about what other people think about you. The earlier in your life that you can learn that, the easier the rest of it will be.” (#Girlboss, 2015)
She taught me that there’s nothing I can’t do, even if there are people who seem more prepared than I am. Through her book #Girlboss she showed me her life and how she made it to where she is now. I’ve got some chapters that I read every now and then to stay motivated. I hope you try the book and feel as inspired as I do.
